Power Gen Systems were recently engaged to supply, deliver, install and commission a new 1650 kVA backup diesel generator and a 10,000L fire rated bulk fuel tank into the existing hospital plant room.  

The scope included integration with existing infrastructure which includes two existing generators and a 3,500L fuel tank. The increase in fuel capacity provides a minimum 24-hour backup to the hospital in the event of a power outage before refueling is required. PGS’s ability to provide solutions for challenging sites was again called on with this site. A dual custom exhaust was required to join onto the existing system and there were several logistical challenges with the delivery of the equipment. The Plant Room is at the bottom of a winding ramp with the added complexity of ensuring that ambulances had access and egress at all times. Working in closely with the crane company the team were able to navigate this and install the equipment with minimal disruption. A very challenging yet successful project that is now fully operational and showcasing PGS’s ability to deliver complex power solutions in live, high-risk environments.
