Objective/Goals
- Upgrade the existing generator, to support the current power demands of the airport, and anticipate growth in the site’s power needs, to ensure the upgrade also future proofs the site
Problem
- An outdated generator and controls (40years old equipment) that didn’t meet the current power needs of the site, and the life-saving services it supports
- Limited access to the old generator in a plant room
Solution
- Supply and installation of a 65kVA generator
- The addition of a sound proof enclosure to minimise noise-pollution in the area
- The inclusion of a 3G remote monitoring system with text message facilities, to alert facilities management and on-site teams to energy issues
Outcomes
- The provision of an up-to-date and reliable generator to ensure the support of the critical services the Royal Flying Doctor Service provides to those living in rural areas
- Remote monitoring to provide the RFDS team real-time visibility of their generator and energy systems with SMS and email messaging, to provide current updates on operations and issues
