Transport & Logistics Site

Background

This expanding National logistics provider required on-site emergency power to support its new purpose-built freight distribution and warehousing sites.

Problem

  • The client needed to manage busy freight terminals that required dependable emergency power options, as a part of their new developments
  • A location and site requirement included a back-up power generator with low noise emissions
  • The system also needed to be self-contained with extended fuel and operational capacities to ensure business continuity & stock loss prevention

Solution

  • The PGS team designed a system to meet the strict project specifications, and ensured there was a value-add in service and offering for the electrical contractor involved too
  • Leveraging the brand-new purpose-built facility, the PGS team integrated with the construction schedule and was able to design and provide a custom-built 780kVA generator system to suit the application
  • Due to space limitations, PGS used their expertise in difficult site locations, to manage a high capacity but gentle manoeuvre-approach to station the generator system into its final position

Outcome

  • The site now has a fully automated emergency power system with extended operational capacities enabling critical freight and foods to be kept safe and delivered to clients regardless of grid power supply issues
  • The design, installation and operations of the system have been so successful that PGS have also been engaged to provide the generator package for this client’s rapidly expanding second new transport terminal
