Medical Centre Case Study
Background:
This busy medical and teaching hospital required an infrastructure upgrade of their legacy generator equipment.
Problem:
- They needed both a robust generator set that could supply emergency power to vital areas of their site, and
- a company that could navigate the busy area, existing structures and landscapes, and have minimum impact on the services that run 24/7
Solution:
- A 1,650kVA temporary (hire) generating set was urgently installed to support the site whilst works were undertaken
- To deal with the broader sourcing and selection process, we utilised our project approach for procuring specialised equipment of this size (and the associated equipment), factoring in current shipping and local stock levels – this was a win for the client, but presented several ongoing challenges throughout the project that PGS successfully navigated
- Our project team co-ordinated with the onsite facilities and services team to schedule both the extraction and disposal of the legacy machine, and install the new generator set and infrastructure
- Utilising a 230-tonne crane, we delicately installed a 1,650kVA generator open set into the existing infrastructure to minimise the impact on clients costs & time
Outcome:
- Minimal impact on the day-to-day services at this medical site
- The provision of specialised and reliable back-up power to service emergency & critical needs
