Hope Valley Aged Care Facility
Objective/Goals
This renown aged care facility in the north-eastern foot-hills of Adelaide was looking to ensure the high quality of standard and care was maintained on site with respect to power supply. As it is an active facility, any upgrades needed to ensure minimal disruption to the residents and site and severe outages needed to be avoided during installation.
Problem
- Due to grid instability and external factors, the site had experienced power outages in the past
- The current footprint of the site and infrastructure left minimal room for a generator
- Any installations would need to navigate around a main driveway being blocked off while the works were undertaken
- There was a 1-week turn-around time for the project
Solution
- The PGS team worked with the facilities Residential Project team to plan the best approach around access restraints. The solution was to cut heavy-duty concrete, trench and install cabling under the main driveway
- A 275kVA Generator installed to support the site now and into the future
- Alignment to budget
Outcome
- The project stayed within budget and had minimal impact on daily operations of the site
- The facilities staff and management were able to avoid a local area outage a mere few weeks after the installation – their forethought and site planning to install back-up power mitigated onsite outages
